AlphaRet® Professional Peel System
The AlphaRet® peel system by skinbetter science® has been shown to improve overall skin tone and texture for patients with mild photodamage.
The AlphaRet® 30 peel is a lighter peel for patients with mildly photodamaged skin, including early signs of skin ageing and blemishes. This is a tailored, progressive regime that can be stepped up to the stronger 50 peel system for a deeper treatment should you and your skincare expert agree that you would benefit from it. The typical treatment regime involves three initial treatments, before moving onto a maintenance plan.
These products are not available to purchase and are for professional use only.
At home skincare also available
The AlphaRet® system must be supported by an accompanying AlphaRet® at-home skincare regimen for you to maintain the full benefits of your professional peel.
Cosmetic Perfection can prescribe you a bespoke, supportive regimen for you to follow at home that you can access via our GetHarley® portal. These products will be delivered directly to your door.
Following your skincare prescription at home will help to maintain your skin gains, although you may need the occasional ‘booster’ from us in clinic.
Scientific evidence
Both the AlphaRet® 30 peel and 50 peel systems have been clinically demonstrated to improve erythema (redness), fine lines/wrinkles, skin tone, skin texture and pore size.
This study looked at individuals aged 25-65 with mild (30 peel) and moderate (50 peel) photodamage following three peel treatments, four weeks apart.
The subjects also followed an AlphaRet® at home skincare regime, just like the one we can prescribe for you via our GetHarley® portal.
Commonly asked questions
Yes. We strongly advise that you stop using retinol or retinoid products for two days prior to your treatment. Likewise, do not have your facial hair waxed or lasered 48 hours before treatment. If you have active cold sores, please tell us because we will have to postpone your treatment until they have resolved. If you have any doubts, please speak to us.
There is very little downtime after treatment, but we would advise against strenuous exercise, such as that which might cause facial sweating, or swimming for 24 hours.
We will give you a bespoke, skincare plan with appropriate products via our GetHarley portal for you to follow after your treatment in order to maximise your results. We will also provide you with information on how to care for your skin following your Alpharet peel:
- Wear a high-quality, mineral SPF, or wear a wide brimmed hat.
- Avoid retinols, retinoids and other vitamin A containing products for 5 days*.
- Avoid products with potentially irritating ingredients such as alpha-hydroxy acid (AHA) and beta-hydroxy acid (BHA) containing exfoliants for 5 days*.
- Do not wax or laser your facial hair for 48 hours.
- Avoid excess heat, such as sauna, steam, or hairdryers for 8 hours.
* Unless otherwise directed by your skincare professional.
That depends on where you are going and what you will be doing. We do not recommend that you have a peel within two weeks of returning from a sunny holiday, or if you have an ‘active tan’. Likewise, we wouldn’t advise going on a sunny holiday until two weeks after your treatment.

You should always wear a good quality SPF (available via GetHarley) regardless of whether you have had a peel or not. Don’t undo all your hard work!
Your skin should be at its best after 7 – 9 days and may continue to improve. Your skin will be noticeably smoother with an improved tone and texture.
A typical course of treatment will include three to six professional peels over a period of twelve weeks although some clients may need more. We will help you to decide when or if you can have the deeper AlphaRet® 50 peel. Afterwards we’d recommend that you embark on a regular maintenance plan and come to see us for every few months for a peel.
To get the most from your peel treatments you will be supported by a bespoke skincare prescription to follow at home via our GetHarley portal.
skinbetter science® products are only available through authorised partners because they are medical-grade products and must be provided via a prescription from a suitably qualified person. The easiest way to buy them is through our GetHarley portal.
